ChesStats does not require an account for the basic overlay. Overlay settings are saved in your browser with localStorage. They are not uploaded to a ChesStats account.

The overlay URL contains the chess username and the display options you chose. Anyone with that URL can request the same public statistics.

Usernames are sent to Chess.com or Lichess through the public APIs those sites provide. ChesStats does not collect or store chess passwords.

The language choice is stored in a cookie named chesstats-locale so the site can open in the same language next time.
